Description
The Lady Anne Carosello Ribboned Ring-Toss Toy is a classic spear-the-ring toss game that dates back to medieval France and belongs to the same source of toys and games that includes Graces and the biloquet cup and ball toss toy.
The object of the game is to swing the ribboned ring in the air and try to spear it with the rod. Competitions can be held in which the ‘best of ten tries’ contest is held. Otherwise, the toy is considered to be an excellent ‘lark.’
In colonial America, the tradition continued. Children often wrapped wooden curtain rings with colorful ribbon scraps, fastened them to a tossing rod, and fashioned their own ‘carosello’ ribboned ring toss toy. Made in USA
